Thomas Wade West
July 25, 1960-January 24, 2017
Thomas "Tom Cat" West, of Lake Havasu City, passed away on January 24, 2017. He was born on July 25, 1960 to his parents, Early and Dena West, in Hawthorne, California. He was 56 years of age.
His family moved to Torrance, California shortly after living in Hawthorne and from there, in 1971, they found their home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he attended Lake Havasu Junior High and High School.
It was when Tom was 11 years old he discovered a deep love for the desert and even more of a love of motorcycles. He attended Carlsbad Motorcycle School in California and continued to follow his dream and won State Championship in 1984 (125 novice mod.) Tom was a free spirit and did not know or accept failure. When he set his mind on something, if one way didn't work, another one would and he would get it done. Nothing less than perfection in his eyes was acceptable. Tom was a man of many talents, too many to name but was well known for his ingenuity. He enjoyed traveling, camping, racing, and building machines and tools. He loved the Lord, his Country, the great outdoors, people, and mostly, his family. Everyone was drawn to him. He was not materialistic, but generous with what was given to him.
Tom married in 1981 and had three sons; Matthew, Adam, and Erik, all of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Adam.
Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Tom is survived by his parents, Early and Dena West; sons, Matthew and Erik; sister, Tammie West Dutton; grandsons, Wade West and Gage Cooper; nephews, Christopher and Jeremy Dutton.
A Celebration of Tom's life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 1605 McCulloch Blvd. S. 86406, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, followed by a reception.
