Obituary of Rita McElhinney

Rita Elaine McElhinney, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on January 6, 2017. She was born to Joseph and Elizabeth Gott on January 22, 1943 in Princeton, British Columbia, Canada. She was 73 Years of age. Rita attended Princeton High School and graduated in 1961. She later attended Calgary Business College and earned a Business diploma. Rita met Melvl and the two were married February 9, 1963 in Princeton, British Columbia, Canada. Rita and Melvl resided in many places throughout the world, some of which included; British Columbia, Washington State, Alaska, Idaho, Alberta, Canada, and made their final move to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1987 where she was employed by the Lake Havasu City Fire Department part time and also a clerk at Mohave Community College. Rita had many hobbies and enjoyed so many things in life like quilting, sewing, square dancing, cooking, and baking. She was also a proud member of the Havasu Stitchers Club in Lake Havasu City. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Elizabeth Gott; siblings, Garrie Gott and Wayne Gott. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Mel McElhinney; her son, Barry (Kari) McElhinney; sisters, Debbie Gott and Judy (Brian) Ursulan; grandchildren, McKenzie, Isabell, and Liam.
