While in California, Dick worked for North American Aviation and helped to build several of the Apollo space capsules. In 1971 he and Jackie moved back to Nebraska where he ran his own construction company, farmed, and raised their children. His family landed in Lake Havasu in 1984 where he began working for the LHUSD as crafts- carpenter and continued to do so until retirement. He took pride in his workmanship and many pieces he built are still in use in the school district. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting while later in life he enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren and watching his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers play football on Saturdays.
