Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ann Carol Bekkedahl, of Lake Havasu City, died Monday, December 5th at her home. Born the youngest of eleven children in Laurel, Mississippi in 1927, Ann "Carol" Flynt attended local schools and studied nursing in Birmingham. As a child, her older sisters faithfully took her to church each Sunday, and, later, as a teenager, she gave her life to Christ. She met her husband, Lenard, in 1944, while walking to church one Sunday with friends. She invited him to church and, later, after months of letter writing, they were married in 1947, when he returned from military service. They moved briefly to Minneapolis, MN, before returning to Len's hometown of Williston, ND. They lived there until retiringto Arizona in 1985. Len and Carol raised three sons and were active in their local Baptist churches. Carol's family and church were her focus and she loved living in the country.Carol enjoyed teaching Sunday school and women's Bible studies, and wasactive in the Christian Women's Club in Williston.Carol visited unchurched families with Len, and supported evangelistic efforts and mission activities of organizations serving the needs of others nationally and internationally. Carol, though, preferred to live and work simply behind-the-scenes. She was a great wife, companion, mom and a very good friend, and known for her commitment and willingness to pray for family and friends—she saw that as her greatest gift in serving God and others. She is survived by Len, her husband of 70 years; one sister, Katheryn Burns of Laurel, MS; two sons, Jeff (Tonya) of Lake Havasu City, Mark (Kim) of Nampa, ID;daughter-in-law, Jill, of San Diego; her sister-in-law, Joan Bekkedahl of Williston,ND, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Steve, and nine brothers and sisters, two brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law. The family is especially grateful for the caring employees of Hospice of Havasu for their excellent help. Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home Chapel. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
