Don and I became friends when I was around 16. He came to my parents home to visit with Kathy. We became friends and after we both did time in the service we got together on several hunting trips. As a young man I had my favorite hunting spots in Pa. and of all the people I went hunting with Don was the only one I took to my best spots. Once while hunting for squirrels Don got out of the Falcon and said which one do I shoot first. By the way in 2 hours we both had our limit. Several times we would take the Falcon where only 4 wheel drives would go and yes get stuck and laugh about it.
Over the years I had so much love and respect for Don he was truly a gem. A year ago we had the pleasure of visiting and the first thing Don did was to hug me. At that point I knew the years hadn't changed the man I called one of my dearest friends I will truly miss my friend.
See you on the other side!
Love you Oop.

I am so glad that I got the pleasure of meeting Don when Al and I decided to take a trip to the Grand Canyon in September 2015. He was so kind hearted in welcoming me my daughter and grandson Aiden into there home. We felt so welcomed. He will surely be missed by all.

I will never forget the day you took me and my kids under your wing and made sure we had what we needed. I also will remember when you went out of your way and played Santa Claus. They were so happy and overwhelmed with joy. You were a great man and will never be forgotten.

I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to the entire Wood Family in this time of sadness. I'm still having a hard time believing Pops is gone.
I can remember meeting the Wood Family over 30 years ago and thinking that this is what a hard working true American Family is. Pops was always supportive and around when you needed him. Giving good advice and helping the MCJROTC kids, to include me. Always with mom at our drill meets and cheering us all on I have a lot of Great memories of him in my High School days and over the years. Allowing all of us to call him Pops. He helped raise two amazing children ( Will & Kay) and will be deeply & truly missed by so many people. He was a good hearted and kind man.
All our Love,
Angelia Zipplies (Weedman) & Family

Pop, I will forever remember and be grateful for the Love and Grace that You and Mom showed me in High School. The time I spent in your home was a shining light in a dark time in my life. I remember helping you build the bunk beds that Will and I used, listening to the song "The Green Berets" hundreds of times. I always looked forward to you coming home from work. You were truly a Great man! It was an honor to know you! I love you Pop!!!

I will always remember Don as a loving father figure. As a high school kid I remember the nights hanging out at the Wood residence, the laughter amd good times that large groups of us all shared. I also remember the kind gestures he made at Nathan's wedding, when I wasn't feeling so well and he offered me his jacket and tried to comfort me. I spent last Christmas with Don and Cathy at Kay's home. And I couldn't have felt more loved and welcome. When Kay called to tell me of his passing, it took a while for it to register, as sad as I was I can't imagine the impact it had on his family. My love goes out to all his family I pray for all of you at this difficult time.
