Reita Newman passed away October 26th 2016, at her home in Lake Havasu City with her husband by her side. Reita was born to Henry and Sylvia (Wescott) Welch on September 27, 1935 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. The family moved to Springfield and Eugene, Oregon. Later she moved to the Los Angeles area, attending UCLA, specializing in Early Childhood Development. She taught Kindergarten in Inglewood, California, and owned her own Pre-School with enrollment of 55 students. On September 3, 1987, she married Lewis W. Newman II in Inglewood, CA and later moved to Middleville, Michigan where they spent their summers at a cottage on "Gun Lake." There she became active in her church, helping people who were out of work, or under-employed. At Gun Lake, she enjoyed her favorite pastime of fishing that her mother had taught her. She was preceded in death by Earnest Otis (1st husband); James Dodge (2nd husband); Sons, Tony and Terry Otis. Reita is survived by her husband, Lewis W. Newman II; daughter, Gail Otis (Ritchey) of Paso Robles, California; stepson, Lewis W. Newman III of Holland, Michigan; step-daughters, Gail Newman, of Palm Desert, California; Vicki Newman (Hearst) of Orlando, Florida; Kim Newman (Manson); six grandchildren. Friends are invited to meet with the family, November 14th, 2016 at 11:00AM for viewing at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 540 N. Acoma Blvd., Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Services will follow at 11:30AM. Internment will be at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
