Obituary of Herbert Ryen
Please share a memory of Herbert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Herbert Dale Ryen was born on January 8, 1938 in Ames, IA and passed away peacefully on March 6, 2013 in Lake Havasu City. His life was filled with love, laughter and lots of family and friends.
He owned his own construction business, Ryen Homes, in Des Moines, IA, and then moved to Lake Havasu to retire in 1988 with the love of his life, Susan, of 45 years. They enjoyed boating, going to Laughlin, Vegas, spending time with grandkids, and family happy hour.
Herb was preceded in death by his wife in 2007. Since then he spent his time attending his grandsons' football and baseball games, watching old westerns, and lunches with his grandkids.
He is survived by his sister Cindy Settle of Nevada, IA. Two daughters, Christine Mills and her husband Darin; Shelley Mills and her husband Don; grandkids, Dustin, Alex, Ashley, Jacob and Jasmin of Lake Havasu; and many nieces and nephews.
Heaven will never be the same now that Herb has arrived, there will be even more smiles and laughter for everyone. We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. As to quote his famous line, "Thanks a lot, good bye."
From all of us, we will love and miss you always…..Happy trails Papa.
