George Mark Calleja of Lake Havasu City, Arizona passed away on September 28, 2016 at the age of 81. He was born to Emanuel and Agnes (Dovorsky) Calleja in New York City, New York on October 11, 1934.
George served his country in the United States Army and then continued his service in the National Guard. He met Mary Simon and they shared 56 years of marriage and raised 5 boys together. He was hard working and successfully self employed as a painting contractor for almost 60 years. Additionally, he was referee and judge for Olympic boxing and was a coach for soccer, baseball, and football as well.
Practical jokes were a passion for George and he would go to great lengths to pull off a good gag. He loved a good deal and enjoyed garage sales. He liked going to the casino with his wife and sons and loved to garden and make things grow. He truly lived life to the fullest.
George is preceded in death by his parents; Emanuel and Agnes Calleja.
He is survived by his wife; Mary Calleja of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; his sonsMark (Becky) Calleja of Golden Valley, Arizona; Tom (Deb) Calleja of Santa Rosa, California; Chris Calleja of Sacramento, California; Jerry (Anissa) Calleja of Sonoma, California; Bill (Karen) Calleja of Corona, California; his brother John and sisters Betty and Carol of Washington; as well as 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:00 am.
