Obituary of Gary Arnold Pohlman
Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gary Pohlman, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on September 9, 2016. He was born to Arnold (Ted) and Johnnie Pohlman on May 21, 1943. He was 73 years of age.
Gary married the love of his life, Linda on June 10, 1967 in Monterey Park, California. Gary then started his firefighting career in 1972 when he attended the Fire Academy/Paramedic school at Loma Linda University. He then moved up the "ladder" and retired as a Captain for San Bernardino County Fire Department in 1999.
Gary resided in Alhambra, California from 1967-1970 from which he then moved to Yucca Valley from 1970-1998. In 1998, Gary and Linda became permanent residents of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Gary enjoyed flying power planes, sail planes, boating, off-roading, riding dirt and street bikes. His other interests included hot-rods, fabrication, building cars, boats, bikes, planes, and everything else that caught his eye. Gary also loved riding his Harley. Gary was a member of the LHC Elks #2399, 29 Palms Soaring Club, Morongo Basin Old Car Club, and Morongo Basin Search and Rescue.
There wasn't anything that Gary couldn't do. Gary loved life and insisted on living on the edge with his wife Linda and son Tyson by his side, except when he decided to bungee jump from a hot air balloon, he was on his own.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold (Ted) and Johnnie Pohlman and his sister, Charlotte Robinson (Pohlman). He is survived by his lovely wife, Linda Pohlman, Lake Havasu City, Arizona; son, Tyson (Valerie) Pohlman, Lake Havasu City, Arizona; five grandchildren; Destiny, Cassandra, Megan, Ryan, and Skylar of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; sister, Joan (Dennis) Schimke, Woodbridge, California; mother-in-law, Diana; brother-in-law Jerry (Jane); brother-in-law, Harry, and many more wonderful family and friends.
