Obituary of Naomi Holtzen

Please share a memory of Naomi to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Naomi Otillia Holtzen was born November 1st, 1957 in Inglewood, Calif. to George and Rebecca Cardoso. She has five sisters: Beatrice (Bea) (Russ) Harrold, of Kingman, Ariz. Gloria Rowland, of San Diego, Calif., Rosie (Joseph) Kibodeaux, of Chula Vista, Calif., Lydia Cruz, of San Diego, Calif., and Suzan Cardoso (Ron) of San Diego, Calif. She has one brother Samuel (Sam) (Sharon) Cardoso, of Las Vegas, Nev. She grew up in California and after moving back and forth to Kingman a few times she finally settled in Kingman. Naomi was introduced to Joe by his step-sister when he was living in Lake Havasu City in 1990. They fell in love and Joe moved to Kingman in December of 1990 and they were married in 1991. They were married for over 25 years. Naomi worked at Flying J Restaurant for 14 years, Tuckers in Kingman, and La Senita Elementary School in the cafeteria. Over her lifetime, Naomi has two sons: Robert Barg Jr. (Tamara) and Timothy Barg (Andrea). She has six grandchildren: True, Deidre, Jesse, Isabella, Keira, and Anna. She loved and cherished her grandchildren and the family remained close. She prayed for her sons everyday and never doubted them. She was so proud of her sons and loved them dearly. They both went on to be very successful and raised beautiful families. She not only has a lot of great relatives, but also a great amount of friends. She was a very loved and special person. Her sister Bea and Naomi grew closer and closer when Naomi was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2008 and Bea moved to Kingman to support her. They spent many road trips together visiting family and every Thursday they had their fun times together. They laughed so hard their bellies hurt. They cried and comforted each other during tough times and always stayed positive by being together. Naomi inspired those around her with her love for all. She would always answer the call for help for friends and family. Forgiveness was her priority. She gave all that she was to her husband and her family and even her canine friends. Naomi beat cancer and every day was a blessing and would always be from that point on. She would never let anyone know she was sick so that she could spend every day enjoying her life and wouldn’t let her friends or family worry about her. She was motivated and woke up early every day to swim and would volunteer her time at her church and other groups. She helped with many projects at her church. Her and Joe would go and visit retirement homes together and brightened other people’s day whenever possible. A saying found by Bea described how Naomi lived, “Always tell the truth, laugh and dream big, keep promises, apologize, forgive, try new things and always give love, always”. She was preceded in death by her father George H Cardoso 32 years ago. She went home to be with God on September 10, 2016. Her husband Joe will miss her dearly and looks forward to joining her one day in Heaven. Naomi is loved by all and will always be such a positive force and memory in everyone’s life. Her life was full of love and Joe made her life complete. Let us celebrate her life and know that she lived a fulfilled and joyful life and left this world peacefully and happily. Her Celebration of Life will be held on October 1, 2016 at 11am at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 4045 N Van Nuys Rd, Kingman, Ariz. 86409. Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory. Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com
