Obituary of Thomas Chambers

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Vernon Chambers "Tommy" passed away on Aug 28th in Lake Havasu City, at age 66, after a 6 month battle with bladder cancer. He died peacefully with his loving wife, Virginia and best friend Troy at his side. ` Tommy and Virginia made Lake Havasu their permanent home in 2006 after spending many years vacationing here. After a brief enlistment with the Navy Reserve, Tommy began a successful 30 year career with LAPD, primarily as a Detective in Narcotics Division. He then worked for Kroll Associates as Director of Investigations then SIU Regional Manager for Travelers Insurance Fraud Division. After moving to Lake Havasu, Tommy worked for Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, as a Security Specialist for the Desert Region, another job he truly loved. Tommy loved Havasu and boating and never wanted to travel (other than to see the grandkids) because, as he would say "Everything I need is in Havasu". He will be missed for his larger than life presence, fun-loving wit and humor, his love for family, friends and animals, hugs and kisses for everyone, a very firm handshake and a somewhat annoying whistle. He is survived by his father Jack Chambers, his wife and love of his life, Virginia Chambers, son, Clay Chambers, daughter, Nancy Chambers Park (Michael Park), grandchildren, Elijah and Solstice Park, previous wife, Linda Chambers, stepdaughters, Laura Rice, Karen Rice and Shannon Rice, sister Tracee Haftorson, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and his favorite dog ever, Jackie. Tommy was a long time member of the Elks Lodge, beginning in Poway where his Dad Jack, was a Charter Member. He was also a member of the Parrot Head Club of Lake Havasu and Co-founder of DABS, an organization he started with his late father-in-law, Jesse Drummond. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Rosemary "Rosie" Chambers. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Havasu Polidori House or the WAHS Building Campaign would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct 1st at 2:00 at Shugrue's Bridgeview Room. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the Chambers family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
