Leona Randolph
1937-2016
Leona was born in Seattle, Washington to Edward and Leona Manly onJune 15, 1937. She was the youngest of the 4 children, 1 sister and 2 brothers. They lived in Seattle a short while, moved to a beach house on Camano Island. The beach house was small, but family enjoyed clamming, fishing and sandy beach walks.
The family moved to a bigger house in Mt Vernon. Leona and her siblings were able to walk to school. Leona made many high school friends and later attended reunions, she was very popular during her school years, known for her outgoing personality and humor.
Leona married Jack Cavanaugh when she was 20 years old. They had 4 children, all boys. They were Mark, John, David and Loren. Mark died from diabetes at 48 years of age. The other sons still live in Washington State. Jack was a Navy veteran, served on a Cruiser and Aircraft Carrier. They lived a few years in Seattle and then moved to Burlington. Jack started as a meter reader for Puget Sound Power Company, attended college, retired as an Engineering Supervisor. With the children out of the house they traveled the west coast and western states. Leona was widowed, Jack died from congestive heart failure in 2003.
A few years later Leona married Harold Randolph, US Navy retired and a second career commercial fisherman. They enjoyed the motor home for a few years; toured much of the USA, later they bought a yacht and later a small travel trailer. They had an ever changing life style. Leona was diagnosed with lung cancer just as they were starting a new venture. They were both very happy and enjoyed new friends and their families.
