Stanley Leroy Wilkinson-79 "Stan the Man" Lake Havasu 3/29/37-8/8/16 He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Hilde, daughter Barbara, and son Michael. He had 4 grandchildren Melanie, Joel, SeaAira, Hunter, and 2 great-grandchildren Ashten, Alyssa. He was born in Marmarth, ND to Charles & Cora Wilkinson. Brother to Dennis, Melford,Sheila Brunzell, Gary, and Cheryl Sanchez. Stan graduated High School in Eureka, CA 1955. He devoted his early life to the Army from 1957-1977. During which he served in Korea, and Vietnam. He was stationed in Germany during his enlistment, where he met the love of his life Hilde. His military career brought him Pullman, WA in 1974 to head the ROTC program for WSU. Upon retiring from the Army in 1977, he spent 24yrs in Pullman during that time he became a loyal Cougar fan & booster. He spent time in the postal service before buying the Sports Page Tavern. Stan and Hilde retired in 1998 and hit the road. They traveled the country visiting friends, and volunteering at various parks along the way. This journey brought them to Warrenton, ORwhere they spent 4 years at Fort Stevens Military Museum. Finally deciding to relax "a little" they bought a place in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Stan's proud military background drew him to VFW Post #9401. He was a proud Legacy Life Member, and chaired several programs including Post Commander 2004-2006, District Commander, and served in the Honor Guard among other duties. His passion for serving veterans continued as he chaired Department positions for the state of Arizona. He was also a life member, and past Commander of the Military Order of the Cootie. Military Honors followed by a wake to celebrate a life that touched so many people will be held at London Bridge Beach, Saturday November 5th at 12:00pm. His family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, and requests no flowers or cards. Arrangements were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
