LeRoy "Lee" Curtis Evenson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, formerly of Grand Forks, ND, passed away July 29, 2016 at age 65. He was born in Crookston, MN on October 18, 1950 to Orville and Anna (Larson) Evenson.
Lee grew up on a farm near Climax, MN and graduated from Climax-Shelly High School in 1968. He was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1970-1972. He then attended the University of Minnesota-Crookston, graduating with an Associate's Degree in Civil Engineer Technology. He met and married his wife of 42 years Peggy (Eckenrode) Evenson. In February 1974 he started working for Webster, Foster, Weston Consulting Engineers Grand Forks, ND, became a partner in 1999, and retired in February of 2012. Every summer, he loved camping in Minnesota at Leaf Lake and Island Lake with his friends. After retirement Lee and Peggy moved to Lake Havasu City where he volunteered at the Veterans Thrift Store, enjoyed riding his RZR in the desert and visits from his grandchildren, family and friends. He became a lifetime member of The American Legion and a member of the Elks Lodge of Lake Havasu City.
He is survived by his wife; Peggy, daughter; Charla (Elizabeth Moe) of Minneapolis, MN, son; Brandon of Lake Havasu City, AZ, grandchildren; Calvin and Jane Evenson, brother; Duane (Myrna) Evenson, Climax, MN and sister Dorothy (Wally) Radi, East Grand Forks, MN and also his shadow Abby the family dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Orville and Anna Evenson, sister; Janice and twin brother; Leslie.
A memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 14th, 3:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1605 McCulloch Blvd, Lake Havasu City.
