Obituary of Harriette Beatrice Honsowetz

Please share a memory of Harriette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harriette B. Honsowetz (96), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and dear friend, died on June 4, 2016 in Lake Havasu City, AZ with family by her side. She was born in Port Angeles, WA in 1919, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Puhl, where she lived until attending the University of Idaho at Moscow in 1937. Despite the pain of losing her parents at a young age, she had wonderful memories of her childhood in Port Angeles. She started working at age 6, selling candy at downtown businesses and to sailors when the fleet was docked in Port Angeles. Her two older brothers, Jack and Quinn, "parented" her after their parents passed away and, together, walked her down the aisle at her wedding to Gerald. She married Gerald C Honsowetz in 1938 and they continued to live in Moscow until his graduation in 1941. After short periods in Spokane, Bremerton, Everett and Bellingham they returned to Bremerton in 1950 where they resided until 1974, when they moved to Hansville, WA. She worked as a secretary at Arden Farms and Lents Electrical and Plumbing in Bremerton and retired from her last position at the Naval Torpedo Station at Keyport, WA in 1975. She loved family camping trips in the Olympics and Cascades and spending weekends and summer vacations at their property on Benson Lake with family and friends -- a tradition that continues in the Honsowetz family to this day. She and Gerald loved to dance and you could often find them on Friday and Saturday nights dancing the night away with their dance club friends. She was an active member of the Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church in Bremerton. In later years, she lived in Lake Havasu City, AZ, Kamiah, ID and Moses Lake, WA. Preceding her in death were her husband Gerald in 1985, eldest son Ged, in 1989, and grandson, Scott, in 2013. She is survived by son Jack (Donna) in Vancouver, WA; daughter Jerilyn in Lake Havasu City, AZ; son Rick (Patty) in Moses Lake, WA; 10 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren (the last one born the day before her passing). Her ashes will be placed alongside Gerald's at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton. There will be a family and friends gathering on July 30 at Benson Lake near Bremerton to celebrate her life. Arrangements were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory. Thoughts and condolences may be sent to Harriette's family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
