Winifred Jean Quaglio, born on December 26, 1924 in Topeka, Kansas to Winfield Shehi and Juanita Blosser, died, at the age of 91, on June 29, 2016 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Winifred, also known as Winnie, worked as secretary to the military commander at Wichita Airport which later became McConnell Air Force Base. During World War II she met Lt. Edmond Quaglio and fell in love. In 1944 they were wed. She later worked as an underwriter for Equitable Assurance Co. for 30 years. Winnie was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of America and enjoyed being a leadership trainer. She was given an award in Lake Havasu City, AZ for being active in Girl Scouts for over 50 years. Winnie was also a former member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Quilter's Club, Mohave County Extension Club, Havasu Hummingbirds (now disbanded), Church Women United, and Child Enrichment Council (now disbanded). She was a warm, loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents; Juanita McFarland and Winifield Shehi. She is survived by her sons; Richard Quaglio, of Lindenhurst, New York, Robert Quaglio, of Center Moriches, New York, daughter; Diane (Quaglio) Pelzer, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, son-in-law; Robert Pelzer, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and brother; Winifield Scott Shehi, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church on 2170 Havasupai Blvd. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
