Obituary of Hazel Dawn Chiappino

Hazel "Dawn" Chiappino, born on May 19th, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Allen and Hazel Burt, died on June 10, at age 88, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Ever since she was a baby she was known as "Dawn". "Dawn" was proud to serve her Lord at the First Presbyterian Church of Concord, CA from the first time she was asked to fill in as the church pipe organist for a Palm Sunday Service. She was 16 years old at the time. She ended up as Senior Staff Pipe organist for Sunday services, weddings, baptisms, memorial services, and concerts. From that day on she held that position for 54 consecutive years. She served many years as Director of the High School, Hand Bell and Youth Group choirs. This church is where she met her husband George J. "Joe" Chiappino and were married there on May 10, 1968 and shared 48 loving and joyful years together. "Dawn" was a kind, loving and dedicated person who always had a place in her heart for everyone. She held titles of officers in Soroptomist, P.E.O., the American Guild of Organist, Daughters of the Nile and active in Rotary International. She was the general office manager and senior travel counselor for Global Great Escape Travel, Inc. which she and her husband owned. She was preceded in death by her parents; Allen and Hazel Burt. She is survived by her husband George J. "Joe" Chiappino of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, son, Terry A. Davis of Northern California; stepson, Steven G. Chiappino of Olympia, Washington; step daughter, Rhonda M. Johnson II, of Lake Havasu City as well as 5 grand children. "Dawn's" private memorial service will be held at a later date by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in "Dawn's" name to: "Hospice of Havasu, The Polidori House", P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86405.
