James W. Jones, 27 year resident of Lake Havasu City, AZ (LHC), was born in Johnson County, Indiana to Nelson D. and Marie G. Jones on December 23, 1922, he passed away at his home March 18, 2013. He spend his childhood on the family farm and was particularly fascinated with the record-setting flights of his personal hero, Charles Lindburgh. Jim graduated from Franklin (IN) High School where he served as class president and played on the varsity basketball team. He married his high school sweetheart, Frances Ann Wasson, on July 7, 1944. They have lived happily as best friends for 68 years. He attended Franklin (IN) College and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. He became a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot during WWII, he was a flight instructor, served in Guam, and became a lifetime member of the Reserve Officer's Association; retiring as a Lt. Col. after 28 years of service to his country. While a flight instructor at Luke Field A2, he flew into Site 6 before LHC was ever here. He was associated with the family farm in Indiana, raising hybrid see and served on the Johnson County (IN) Zoning Board of Appeals. He belonged to Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and was a 50 year member of F&AM Lodge 107, Franklin, IN and Scottish Rite, Indianapolis. He was President of the Johnson County Pilots Association, served as Deacon Trustee, Treasurer, and member of the choir at Community Congregational Church, Franklin, IN. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and with Frances enjoyed their church, traveling, and friends, since retiring to LHC. They have two children, Ward L. Jones (WA) and Nancy J. Krueger (SC), 6 grandchildren, and a great-grandson. His sister, Mildred J. Rosenburg resides in North Palm Beach, FL. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Havasu (P.O. Box 597, LHC, AZ) or Havasu Bible Fellowship (P.O.
