(Phyllis) Ann R. Sayne was born in Washington D.C., on George Washington's birthday, February 22, 1940, to Frank and Phyllis (Wiest) Rothenbush. She passed away at home in Lake Havasu City on March 21, 2013. Ann moved to California in 1963 where she worked for RCA Corp. and several stock brokerage firms in the Long Beach area, and met her husband James H. Sayne whom she married on June 22, 1968. They honeymooned on Lake Havasu, and after many more visits to Havasu Cove/Crazy Horse Campgrounds and other area ski lakes, moved their family to Lake Havasu City "for good" in 1971 when Jim went to work for McCulloch Corp., enrolled the kids in school and Ann went to work for the Campgrounds and Blue Water Properties Realty. In 1972 Ann took the opportunity to work as secretary to Charlie Royall, Manager of the Lake Havasu Irrigation & Drainage Dist. And the Sanitary Dist. Until the city incorporated. She was the new City Council's first city official "City Clerk" so she could take the minutes of the first city council meeting on October 8, 1978 Ann retired as City Clerk on her 62nd birthday 30 years later when she said she looked forward to every day she went in to work for the City. Ann became a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) and past president of the Arizona Municipal Clerks Assn., graduate of the Municipal Clerk's International Academy of Advanced Education (CMC/AAE), the ASU Assn of Records Managers; member of Lake Havasu Republican Woman's Club. As family members of Desert Boat & Ski Club, National Speedboat & Water Ski Assn, Havasu Boat & Ski Club, led to their commercial businesses, Sayne Enterprises, and their patented "Copper Canyon Crazies' apparel they sold from a pontoon boat on the Lake, all of which are still available at Jim & Ann's Trophies, Awards & Silk Screening on McCulloch Boulevard. Ann also skied in the local Polar Bear Day from it's 2ne annual run in 1972 through 2002 when she retired from skiing also. Annie, as she is affectingly know, is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jim Sayne of Lake Havasu City; daughters, Margaret (Loron) Holmes, and Donna Crane, of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sons, Lee Fugel, of Castaic, Calif, and Frank (Danette) Sayne, of Tucson, and aka "NaNa" by grandson Tyler Sayne, of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter, Jennifer (David Lee) Taylor, Lake Havasu City, AZ; granddaughter, Marchetta (Brandon) Benesch and great grandson Slade Benesch of Idaho; niece, Pamela Sayne (Nathan) Dryer and grandniece, Breeana Christopher, of Lake Havasu; cousins Ryan and Louis (Wilma) West of Clarksville, Maryland; and John (Dawn) Wiest, of Tampa, Florida. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; Grandparents Louis (Blanche) Wiest and her dearly beloved daughter, Wendy Sayne. A Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Ann's name to Western Humane Society or The Cancer Society.
