Obituary of Opal Edith McCreary
Please share a memory of Opal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Opal Edith McCreary died at the age of 88 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona on May 10, 2016. She was born on June 16, 1927 in Elyria, Ohio to Carl and Lillie Krieg.
Opal married the love of her life, Kenneth Raymond McCreary, in Ohio on November 9, 1946. They spent a beautiful 46 years together.
She loved her friends and considered them family. She enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid water skier. She was especially proud of the big "rooster tail" created by her homemade wooden ski that Kenny and Andy made for her. She enjoyed going to the casino, word puzzles, but most of all loved spending time with her family. She had a passion for sketching and made picture books for her grandkids.
Opal loved life and was known to enjoy a beer or 2 in her younger days. She looked forward to family reunions in Ohio and had many fond memories of vacationing in Hawaii. She loved the look of the Orient and decorated her entire house to reflect that love.
She had been a member of Order of The Eastern Star.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McCreary; parents, Carl and Lillie Krieg; brothers, Elson, Paul, and Carl; and sisters, Stella, Nina, Pearl, and Ruby.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Susan) McCreary, of Hemet, California; daughters, Sherry (John) Brewer, of Amherst, Ohio, Wendy (Richard) Richardson, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
