RICHARD RONALD MOORE JR
Richard Ronald Moore Jr. passed away March 27, 2013 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 79. Richard was born in Los Angeles, CA, and raised in Long Beach, CA. He graduated Long Beach's Wilson High School in 1952 and spent the next four years in the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Coral Lee Kelly in 1957. He joined the Garden Grove Fire Department in 1960 retiring in 1984. They raised their three daughters in Orange County, CA, many times vacationing on the California side of Lake Havasu. Rick and Coral moved to Lake Havasu City in 2007, where he joined several local organizations.
Known to one and all as Rick, he was an avid outdoorsman with an amazing zest for life. He was a real "people person" who loved sharing his enthusiasms with family and friends. No one was a stranger to him for more than a few minutes. He enjoyed motorcycling, sail and power boating, piloting the airplanes he owned and when he could no longer fly the real thing; building and flying radio controlled airplanes; he was involved in target shooting sports, gold prospecting, working on and driving street rods and classic cars. Rick was a member of Havasu Classics Car Club, The Prowler Owner's Association, the Ercoupe Owner's Club, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was in the process of restoring an antique Ercoupe in his garage before his lengthy hospitalization. He belonged to both the Elks and the American Legion here in lake Havasu, as well as the Single Action Shooting Society, the Havasu Sportsman Club, the Gold Prospectors Association of America, the Desert Hawks R/C Flying Club, and the Havasu Sport Flyer's Association. His wife, Coral, was his activity partner in everything he did.
Rick will be greatly missed by his wife, family and many friends. A celebration of Rick's life will be held at a later date.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Coral, his daughter Kristy Decker and her husband Ted of Roseville, CA, his daughter Elaine White and her husband Bill of Central Point, OR, his daughter Darolee Pedroze of Chula Vista, CA, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, his sister Joann P. Woolf of Orange, CA.
