DONALD LINCOLN SNYDER
March 30, 2016
Donald Lincoln Snyder, 93, passed away March 30, 2016 in Lake Havasu City. Don was born in 1922 in Meigs County, Ohio, where he lived until he graduated high school. After graduating high school Don enlisted in the Navy, and he went to Michigan for basic training. While in Michigan, he met and married his wife, Hazel. Don served in World War II as an airplane mechanic. After the war he stayed in Michigan and began his own construction business building custom homes and later, swimming pools.
In the early days of Lake Havasu City Don and Hazel came to Arizona on a promotional McCulloch flight. They and their youngest daughter Betty moved to Lake Havasu in November, 1971. Don wanted to slow down after moving to Arizona, and he went to work for Larry Berg and Associates drawing house plans. He later took a job with the city as a meter reader until his retirement in 1987.
Throughout his adult life he loved to try new things and flying was one of them. He received his license and later on became a flight instructor. Don and Hazel were avid dancers and involved in square dancing, round dancing, and ballroom dancing. He and Hazel loved to dance and were dance instructors for many years teaching people the art of round dancing and ballroom dancing. They would frequent the Elks Lodge several times a week to dance and listen to their favorite artists. Don was also a member of the Lake Havasu Center for Spiritual Living.
Don is survived by his three daughters, Donna (Ron) Buckenberger of Whitehall, Mich., Dianne (Alan) Heppner of Lake Havasu City, and Betty (Larry) Locatis of Lake Havasu City. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Hazel, and two great-grandsons.
Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As per his wishes, no service will take place. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Havasu.
