Walter Raymond Johnson February 5, 1929- March 28, 2016 Walter Raymond Johnson passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ, with his family by his side, on March 28, 2016. He was born on February 5, 1929 to the late Carl and Jenny Johnson, in Tustin, Michigan. Walter, known to his family and friends as Walt, met Ethel Brindamour in their hometown of Tustin. The two were married in Wayne, Michigan on June 20, 1953. The couple celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage together. In 1963 Walt and his family moved to southern California. Walt earned an Associate’s degree in Inspection Technology. He worked for the state of California as a building inspector. Walt also proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1990 Walt and Ethel retired to beautiful Lake Havasu City. Walt loved golfing with his buddies, especially his brother-in-law Roy Brindamour. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and men’s weekends with his sons. He was also an avid deer and elk hunter. Walt looked forward to his annual hunting trips to Colorado and Canada with his son-in-law Jody Newbold. Walt was an active member of many local clubs including the VFW, American Legion, ELKS, Knights of Columbus, Canyon Golf Club, and Mudsharks. Together, Walt and Ethel were dedicated members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Havasu City. Walter had a commanding presence and wisdom of life that everyone who knew him benefited from. He was an honest and humble man. Everyone loved and respected him. Walt will be greatly missed. Walt is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bernard; sisters, Dolores VanHulle, Elaine Mishler, and Charlotte Harvey; grandson John; great-grandson Kai; and his oldest friend Terry Forsberg. He is survived by his loving wife; nine children, Cathy, Susan, Mike, Nancy, Carl, David, Mary, Walter, and Sam; 45 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. Walters’s tree was fruitful and blessed. A visitation will be held on Thursday April 7, 2016 from 1:00-5:00pm with a rosary at 3:30 in the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home chapel. Reception will follow at 7:00pm at the Our Lady of the Lake parish hall. A funeral mass will be held on Friday April 8, 2016 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Burial at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens will immediately follow mass. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
