James Edward Mitchell Jim Edward Mitchell, 83, of Seligman, AZ, passed away with his family by his side on July 20, 2014. He was born to Grace and Henry Mitchell on October 8, 1930 in Garden Grove, CA. Jim and his loving wife, Carol, were married on September 28, 1980, in California. They moved to Lake Havasu City in 1980 and stayed for twenty-four years. Jim was the Lake Havasu City building inspector for many years. In 2004, Jim and Carol moved to Seligman, AZ. They were in Bridge Canyon Estates of Seligman from 2004 to 2007. After moving to Abilene, Texas for two years, they returned to Bridge Canyon Estates in 2009. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying activities such as golfing, boating, RV-ing, and ATV-ing during his spare time. He was a member of the Lake Havasu City Elks lodge. He also played football for the Army All Star team in Korea. "He was the most loving and gentle big man, everybody thought so highly of him. His upbeat, smiling outlook on life was contagious." Jim is survived by his wife, Carol Mitchell, of Seligman, AZ; sons, Charles Mitchell, of Norco, CA, John Mitchell, of Desert Hot Springs, CA, Alan Bilyew, of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Daniel Bilyew, of Baton Rouge, LA; daughters, Dena Criswell, of Pottstown, PA and Shari Buescher, of Mission Viejo, CA; brother, Richard Mitchell, of Dallas, OR, as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. James also leaves behind his beloved canine kids, "Pepper" and "Sadie." Jim is preceded in death by both his parents. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lake Havasu City Humane Society in Jim's name. A celebration, honoring Jim's life will be held at a later date.
