Joretta Nadine McCray-Miller, 84, passed away at her home on August 23, 2014. She was born to the late Victor and Helen McCray on February 13, 1931 in Wheatland, Indiana.
She and husband, Vernon, were married in 1950, in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was a member of NARFA and Beta Sigma Phi. She was a community volunteer and valued the service of our military. She was known to prepare and provide meals and open her home to the military troops during war time. "She made the best homemade egg noodles." She was a loving, caring and nurturing woman. She enjoyed watching movies and going for drives. She was a frugal person, saving money where ever she could. She was very family oriented and always put family first.
Joretta is survived by her sons, Steve (Sue) Miller, of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Dan (Katherine) Miller, of Tempe, AZ; daughters, Cathy Carlon, Kim (Tom) Hemmen, Verna (Kevin) Beyer, all of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Shelley Miller-Rapacz, of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren: Michelle, Josiah, Christina, Gennifer, Crystal, Michael, Jimmy, Thomas, Elias, Daniel, Chyanne, Kevin, Corey, and Cassie as well as twenty-three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Joretta was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Helen McCray; husband, Vernon Miller as well as her daughter Vicki Vestal.
Funeral services will be held for Joretta on Friday, August 29, 2014, 10:00AM at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Chaplin, Kathy Kenney will provide words of comfort. Joretta will be laid to rest at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
