Robert R. Roberts August 2, 1925 - April 9, 2013 Heaven is filled with laughter! Robert (Bob) Roberts passed from this Earth to meet his lovely bride, Donna, on April 9, 2013. After sixty years of marriage, he lost his wife on June 1, 2010 and never wanted to spend another day on this earth without her. He now has his wish! Bob was born in Chicago, IL in 1925 to Ralph and Rose Roberts. After the loss of his father, his family relocated to Madison, WI where he attended school at West High School. In 1943 he was drafted to the Army and served in World War II and served under General Patton under the Third Army 1st Company. They were the first division to relieve the 101st Airborne at Bastogne during the Battle of Bastogne. Upon release from the Army, mutual friends introduced him to his future wife, Donna Clausen. He was smitten from the beginning and they were married on October 8, 1949. They started their family in 1951 with the birth of their first child and continued with a total of six children through the year of 1963. During his years in Madison, he was contracted to work for his father-in-law's business, Madison Transit, who was contracted with the US Government to deliver mail in the Madison/Chicago area. After being offered a free trip from the McCulloch Corporation to 'check out Lake Havasu' he relocated is wife and four youngest children to Arizona in 1972. After his arrival in Lake Havasu he became part owner of the Desert Sports Shop and eventually became a real estate agent and Broker. In the late 80's and early 90's he was the Broker/Owner of American Dream Homes. In 1991 he retired from real estate and enjoyed many years of travelling with his wife, Donna to destinations all over the world often taking his children with him. In recent years he travelled with his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his children: Karen (Mark) Fresh of Lake Havasu City, Dan (Kristy) Roberts of Henderson, NV, Tony Roberts of Phoenix AZ, Jeff (Leslie) Roberts, of Lake Havasu City, and Mary Roberts (Dave Mitchell) of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Grandchildren Bobby (Amanda Roberts), Mahlia Roberts, Gunner Mitchell, Cody (Amanda) Roberts, Tyler Roberts, Adam Roberts, Anthony Roberts, Jr. Andrew Fresh, Alena (Dave) Holligan, Audrey (Ramon) Cornejo, Abe Fresh, Abigail (Ben) Hutchings, Amanda (Jose) Hernandez, Aaron Fresh, Anna Fresh, Alyssa, Fresh, Alex Fresh, and Angela Fresh along with many great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Ronna (Warren) Getzinger and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death my his wife of 60 years, Donna. His daughter Linda Roberts and his mother Rose Schillinger Bierer. We sat beside your bedside, Our hearts were crushed and sore; We did our best to the end, 'Til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking, We watched you fade away; And though our hearts were breaking, We knew you could not stay. You left behind some aching hearts, That loved you most sincere; We never shall and never will Forget you Father dear. Services will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 1975 Daytona Blvd., Lake Havasu City. Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. A reception lunch to honor Bob will be held in the Holy Family Parish Center beginning at 12:15. All friends and family are invited to come celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Our Lady of the Lake Building Fund.
