Obituary of Thorolf Oscar Olson

Thorolf Oscar Olson, passed away on September 26, 2014 at the age of 89. He was born in Glendive, Montana on August 22, 1925 to the late Thorolf and Hilda Olson. Thorolf, known to family and friends as "Thor", grew up in Glendive. There he graduated from high school in 1943. He entered the United States Navy in 1943 and discharged in 1946, returning to Glendale. Thor and wife, Elaine Mac Arthur were wed at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive, MT by Rev. Magnelson, on September 7, 1946. Thor attended Butte School of Mines in Butte, Mt. He later returned to Glendive in 1947 and worked for the N.P. Railroad until 1958. After retiring from Baker Oil Tools in May of 1986, the Olson's finally settled in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Thor was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, the Elks, VFW, and the American Legion. He loved woodworking and has created many beautiful bowls and pots. For over fifty years, Thor and Elaine enjoyed square and round dancing. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him great joy. Thor is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Elaine Olson, of Lake Havasu City, AZ; children, Marta Ganes and Mark Olson, both of Lake Havasu City, AZ; brother, Gordon Olson, of Chicago, IL; and sister, Audrey Olson Hood, of Helena, MT. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for Thor on October 18, 2014 at 890 Fremont Lane, Lake Havasu City, AZ from 2:00PM - 5:00PM.
