Obituary of Edward Campbell Velner

Edward Campbell Velner "Fast Eddie", passed away on October 12, 2014, at the age of 76. Edward was born July 31, 1938 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the son of the late Edward Donald and the late Ada (Campbell) Velner. Edward served the U.S. Navy from August, 1956to August, 1960, where he received an honorable discharge as an electricians mate on the "USS Philippine Sea" CVS- 47. Edward and wife, Carol were wed on January 16, 1959, in Long Beach, California. In October of 1979 Edward and Carol made their way to Lake Havasu City, Arizona from Encinitas, California where he worked for Van Rooy Plumbing for 18 years, until his retirement in 2000. Edward was an avid golfer and enjoyed his free time playing horseshoes. He enjoyed many years of waterskiing, fishing and family outing on the lake. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Roman Church, as well as, both the Eagles and the Elks. Edward is survived by three daughters, Jeannine(Steve)Henschel, of Vista, California, Deborah(Larry) Born, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Teresa Velner, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; two sisters, Marsha(Jerry)Buerge, of Torrance, California,Jennifer Martin, of Redondo Beach, California; and two brothers, Jim(Dixie)Velner, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Mark(Gayle)Velner, of Torrance, California. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Carol; his parents, Edward and Ada Velner and one grandchild. His wonderful smile, big heart, warm hugs and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family request that donations be made to Hospice of Havasu in memory of Edward.
