Obituary of Mary Parsons

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary A. Parsons went to be with the Lord on Friday October 17, after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was born July 31, 1934 and was the only child of Edward M. and Marie J. (Kelley) Franz. Mary was always down the road at her best friend/sister's (Catherine "Catty" E. MacLellan) home, blending in with the family of seven children whom she grew to know and love. Mary graduated from West Bridgewater HS in MA in 1951 and went to every reunion that they had. In 1953 she met the love of her life Richard E. Parsons and on June 26, 1954 they were married at St. Ann's Church in West Bridgewater, MA. Through the next twenty years they had four daughters and one son. Mary worked as a bookkeeper for Brockton Hospital and Randolph Manufacturing. The family moved to Bridgewater, MA and she became a school bus driver and assisted her husband with the bookkeeping of the little corner store "Scotland Country Store" that they purchased. They went on to purchase a restaurant in Raynham, MA and then a second restaurant in the town center of Bridgewater, MA. Eventually they sold everything and in 1977 headed west to the beautiful panoramic mountain views of Lake Havasu City, AZ. When they arrived and the dust settled, she worked for the Sherriff's Department as a Dispatcher, and then went on to work for the McCulloch Corporation as a payroll clerk; she retired in 1991. Retirement brought on new adventures for the retired couple, as they toured the country in their 5th wheel. They went on nine cruises, went back to MA many times to visit family and friends but always came home to the sweet and beautiful mountains of Lake Havasu City. After her love had passed in 2007 she continued to travel with her best friend/sister Catherine on several more cruises, a trip to Paris and, through her church Our Lady of the Lake she went to Rome. She always loved a good joke and she could tell a great joke as well. She also loved country music, travel, family, and friends and of course a little gambling always put a twinkle in her eyes. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard E. Parsons Sr. She leaves her best friend/sister Catherine E. (MacLellan) Parsons (forgot to mention the best friends married twin brothers.) Mary also leaves her loving children: Marie E. (Parsons) Alveyof MD; Debra B. Parsonsof AZ; Sharon J. (Parsons) Fisk (Gary)of NV; Teresa A. (Parsons) Dosch (Chris)of MD; and Richard E. Parsons Jr. of TX. She also leaves five grandchildren; Kelley Dorsey (Beau), Robbie Britton (Alycia), Amanda Britton (Shorty), Kasey Standal, and Hunter Blazer. Plus fivegreat grandchildren: Beau Lee, Haylee, Emmalee and Nellee Dorsey of NC; Jenna and Bobby Britton of AZ.She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Marie, Debbie, Sharon, Tracy, and Rick wish to express sincere thanks and gratitude to our Aunt Cathy and our cousins Linda and Cathy for their love, help and support throughout our mother's illness.
