Obituary of Margaret Maxine Bettendorf

On June 6, 1920, Margaret, the oldest of two sisters, was born to Esther and Ernest Bracker. She was born, raised and educated in Davenport, Iowa.
In October 1940, she married Robert Bettendorf. Upon his return from World War II overseas duty in 1947, she gave birth to their first son, Richard. One and a half years later, their second son, Jerry was born.
When Jerry was two months old they moved to Huntington Park, California where they had another son, James and a daughter, Linda.
Margaret was active in three different schools receiving a Lifetime Membership in PTA . She was a den mother, a brownie leader and worked with Job's Daughters along with being active in her church.
In 1974, after the death of her husband, she returned to working as a bookkeeper. In 1986, she moved to Lake Havasu City where she was involved in her new church, Mature Singles, the Senior Center and bookkeeper for her condo association.
Survived by her son, Richard and wife Pamela; daughter Linda and husband Richard Wells of Lake Havasu City; son Jerry and wife, Sandy of El Paso, Texas; daughter-in-law Nhung of California, widow of James (deceased son); seven grandchildren and 21 great-grand children.
Services will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church this Friday, October 24th at 2p.m.
