Obituary of Alda Anna Curless

Alda Anna Curless, 86, passed away on February, 3, 2016 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She was born to Giuseppina (Carlini) and Giuseppe Taramasco on August 1, 1929 in Buffalo, New York. At eighteen, her father moved the family to San Diego, California where she pursued a career with the Federal Government. She rose to the level of Budget Director and retired after 33 years. She moved to North Dakota where she lived for several years before moving to Lake Havasu where she spent her remaining years. Everyone knew Alda as, Mom. On Sundays while family and friends were in the pool, Mom would prepare a huge meal, enough to feed an Army! Holidays were special around Mom's house. She always made sure those who didn't have family were invited to her home. For many, she will be remembered as that feisty, little, Italian "Mom" who welcomed and embraced everyone. Alda was an avid reader, loved to travel, enjoyed knitting, received many trophies for bowling and cherished spending time with family and friends. She loved being the greeter at her Church and hugged everyone as they came through the door. She will be missed and was truly loved. Alda is survived by her brother, Giulio (Louise) Taramasco; children, Vernon (Rona) Edwards, Cynthia (Edward) Sergott, Jeffery (Kijia) Homes, Victoria (Craig) Jordan, Randall Homes; 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and her nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Giuseppina (Carlini) and Giuseppe Taramasco; son, Mark Thomas Homes and grandson, Nickolas Jordan. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00 AM at Covenant Church, 113 Acoma Blvd., N, Lake Havasu City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Havasu. The family would like to thank the Polidori House for the compassion and care of their Mother.
