Obituary of James R. Boody

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James R. Boody, 68, entered eternal life totally unexpected on December 25, 2014, sleeping away peacefully at his home. He was born on February 9, 1946 in Los Angeles, California, to parents Donald Tracey Boody and Barbara Louise. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps as a Medical Assistant in Vietnam and was released from active duty and transferred to Naval Reserve NAS in Oahu in Hawaii in 1969. He completed his degree of Associate in Arts at the University of Hawaii and then went on into his own business ventures, starting out selling popped popcorn out of a shed he built in his backyard in Hawaii. In 1976 Jim invented the popcorn portion pack, where the corn, salt and butter flavored oil is combined in a 2-chamber pouch, professionally pre-measured and ready to pop. It was the breakthrough in the industry of popcorn and the pack has since been copied and widely used by all the major popcorn companies. Jim's mission has always been to help others and make a difference in their lives and he excelled in doing that. He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every day being loved by everyone around him. He is survived by his wife Maria Boody and his daughter Lisa-Maria Boody. A service will be held on Friday, January 9th, at 2:30PM at the Cemetery on Deer Run, with Military Honors Burial Ceremonies, followed by a service from Pastor Dale Ray and a Celebrations of Life Ceremony. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hoof Beats from Heaven Inc, a local therapeutic horseback riding program for special needs people and Disabled Veterans (www.hoofbeatsfromheaven.org), with offices at 2126 McCulloch Blvd. Ste # 18, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences may be sent to James's family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
