Obituary of Carmelo Anthony Deluca
Please share a memory of Carmelo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carmelo "Mel" De Luca was born on March 7, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York. He passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on December 27, 2014. Mel served in the United States Army as a combat medic during WWII in the Philippine Islands, from 1943 to 1945. He was married to Mary Montagna in 1946 and had a son, Mario and a daughter, Carolyn. He later married his wife, June, in 1971 and moved to Lake Havasu in 1978, where they opened a sporting goods business. He made many friends during this time. In 1994, they sold the business to enjoy their retirement. He was an active member in the London Bridge Rotary Club where he attended meetings for the last 36 years with perfect attendance. He played poker regularly at a local social club here in Lake Havasu City.
Mel was preceded in death by June, his wife of 40 years. He leaves behind his son, Mario, his daughter, Carol, son-in-law, Brian, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He will surely be missed by each and every one of his family and friends, especially his cats, Bozo, Lulu and Leilei.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of Havasu, in honor of Mel De Luca. A memorial service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on January 8, 2015 at 3:30PM.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences may be sent to Mel's family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
