Obituary of Charles Edward Rodgers
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Edward Rodgers passed away at 85 years of age on January 15, 2015 in Lake Havasu City. He was born to Pollie and Edward Rodgers on July 16, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan.
Charles was wed to Judith Mary in November of 1971 and they went on their honeymoon to Lake Havasu and enjoyed 43 years together. They moved from San Diego to Havasu after Chuck retired in 1987.
Chuck was an Air Force Veteran and he enjoyed radio controlled airplanes. While he was in the Air Force he purchased a B-T Trainer for $350. To this day he wished he had kept the airplane.
Charles was very proud to become a mason and went on to become a masonry contractor for building walls, fireplaces, etc. throughout the San Diego area and had much pride in his men and at times had as many as 50 employees.
Charles is survived by his wife, Judith Rodgers; his two sons, Scott and Rick Rodgers of San Diego, California; sisters, Rosie Schalk of Garden City, Michigan; Pat Kavetsky of Tucson, Arizona, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Jim Rodgers of Lake Havasu, Arizona and John Rodgers of San Jose, California; his sisters, Ruth Ring and Susie Heckel, both of Livonia, Michigan.
Chuck was a great caregiver for his friend Glenn Morse who moved to Lake Havasu from San Diego, California; and another good friend Lyle Straus; and also for his brother, John; and those friends kept Chuck very busy.
The closeness we all shared will never be lost. We love you, Chuck and we miss you so much - Judy
