Obituary of Rita Christine Butler

Please share a memory of Rita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rita Christine Butler (Christy) was born on August 12, 1951 in Phoenix Arizona to Howard and Colleen Nash. She passed into God's care on February 10, 2015, in Kingman, Arizona after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Christy moved with her family to Kingman when she was in seventh grade and graduated from Mohave County Union High School in 1969. She met the love of her life and soul mate, Leroy Butler, In February 1969 on a Saturday morning when she had car trouble on her way to work and he stopped to help fix her car. He came into the store she worked at later that afternoon and asked her on a date. They had a long distance romance, only being able to see each other twice a month when he would get weekend passes from the Navy. They were engaged in April of 1969 and married on September 6, 1969, shortly after her 18th birthday. They enjoyed 45 wonderful years of marriage. Christy and Leroy lived in San Diego for the first year-and-a-half they were married and he was in the Navy. Some of their best memories were of taking their dog to the beach to walk in the surf and dream of their future. They moved back to Kingman in 1971, shortly before the birth of their daughter, Edie. Their son, Lee, was born two years later in 1973. Christy helped Leroy start and run a successful business for more than 30 years, all while being a wonderful mother to her children. She never missed a practice, game, recital, play or any other activity that her children were involved in. She also took care of her son Lee after a tragic accident left him paralyzed. But her greatest joy was her twin grandsons, Evan and Dylan. She took care of them when her daughter was working and that gave her the most happiness she had ever experienced in her life. Christy is survived by her husband Leroy, daughter, Edie, son Lee, and grandsons Evan and Dylan. Also, her mother, Colleen Nash; brother, Jim Nash and his wife Yvonne; sister-in-law Marilyn Goldberg; very special aunt and cousin, Hazel Barnett and Kay York; and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her daddy Howard Nash, beloved brother Bud Nash, her grandmother Rita Johnson, uncle Clint Johnson and cousin Clint York. Leroy, Edie and Lee would like to thank Sherrie, Josie, Helen, Courtney and the entire staff of KRMC Hospice for your care, kindness and love during this difficult time. No services will be held. In Lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to KRMC Hospice in Christy's name. Your life was full of loving deeds. Forever thoughtful to all our needs.
