Obituary of Marian L. Peters
Please share a memory of Marian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marian L. Peters, of Lake Havasu City, AZ passed away March 8, 2015 at the age of 87. She was the loving wife of Marvin Peters for 65 years.
Marian was born December 28, 1927 in Mountain Lake, MN to the late Karl & Alma Liem. She graduated from Miss Woods Kindergarten and Primary Training School with a Teaching Certificate and taught first grade in St. Paul Park, MN before marrying Marvin Peters July 9, 1949. She was now a military wife and enjoyed every minute of it. Together they lived in Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Guam, California, Nevada, and Virginia and shared their love of travel and adventure with their 4 children. Marian later returned to teaching when they settled in Minnesota after Marvin retired from the Air Force. They eventually chose the warmer weather of Arizona to settle and she continued doing the things she loved: being active in the women's groups at church, singing in the choir, and staying active with after school activities with the kids. She enjoyed baking and sewing, making many outfits for her children and husband. After retirement, she and Marvin enjoyed traveling for another 28 years in their trailer and truck, visiting family and friends, all 50 states and 3 countries. They wrote about their adventures each year, leaving lasting memories for their family.
Marian is survived by her husband, Marvin, of Lake Havasu City, AZ; her son Brian Peters and wife Pam of Willmar, MN; her daughter, Laura Thompson and husband Rod of Cumberland, RI; her daughter, Rita Kidder of Lake Havasu City, AZ; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Matthew, Andrew, David, Christine, Katherine and Thomas and 3 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kinleigh and Noah. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Karla Austin; and her sister, Phyllis Inglett.
Marian will be deeply missed by all. A small service will be held Saturday, March 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service in memory of her life will be held at a later date in MN.
