Anthony (Tony) Granger passed away on April 3, at the age of 76. He was born in Fenton, Louisiana on November 21, 1938 to Rena and Harold Granger. Tony was the first born. He had three brothers and a sister. His father was a rice farmer in Louisiana. During his high school years, he spent weekends bull riding, calf roping, and team roping at the state rodeo competitions in Louisiana and Texas. He was at that time, the youngest professional bull rider. He won quite a lot of 1st places (including money, belt buckles & saddles). He also was in the Army Reserve during his high school years. After graduating high school, he worked for the local telephone company and in the summer of 1957, he and a crew went to Cameron, Louisiana to install telephone poles. Tony and his crew got caught in Hurricane Audrey on the 27th of June, 1957 which killed approximately 600 people. Luckily, they made it to a hotel and helped the owner move all her furniture to the top floor which is where the water stopped rising. After a couple of days, the Red Cross came around in boats and took them to safety. It was and still is one of the worst hurricanes to hit Louisiana. Tony joined the Army in 1958 and served through 1961. While in the Army, he married. Once out of the service, they moved to Temple City, California and had three children (Pamela, Debra and Tony Jr.). He owned a Texaco Service Station in Monterey Park, California. They divorced seven years later. Tony and Shauna met in 1972 and married in 1973. They bought a home and moved to West Covina, California. Shauna worked for a Civil Engineer/Land Surveyor for 22 years in Monterey Park, California. Tony and Shauna, over the years owned three services stations that were all located in Monterey Park. Tony enjoyed golfing, and they both enjoyed four wheeling in their Land Cruiser with the Toyota Land Cruiser Club, traveling in their motor homes, ATC's, etc. After they retired, they moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. They both worked for the Lake Havasu Unified School District. Tony worked at Nautilus Elementary for almost five years with one special needs student from pre-first through fifth grade. Shauna worked at Nautilus Elementary for five years then she transferred to the District Office for ten years. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
