William Melville Currie, Sr passed away on Sunday May 5, 2013 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 87. Bill was born on January 10, 1926 in Long Beach, CA to John and Edith (Godwin) Currie.
Following graduation from high school, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and saw action at Iwo Jima. After being honorably discharged, Bill returned to the states and went to school under the G.I. Bill learning the construction industry.
On December 18, 1945, Bill married the love of his life, Barbara. Bill and Barbara settled in Marin County, CA and in 1963 moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and lived there for 25 years. In 1977, they began spending their winters in Lake Havasu City and in 1982 made Lake Havasu City their permanent home.
Bill was a lifetime member of The Elks and V.F.W. in Wyoming and Lake Havasu City. He also volunteered at The Lake Havasu Senior Center where he made many friends.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara, sons William M. Currie, Jr. and his wife Linda of Thorn Bay, Alaska and Randall J. Currie of Lake Havasu City, Daughter Debbie M. Lanier of Santan Valley, AZ; Jack Currie and his wife Joy of Pahrump, NV Grandchildren Amy L. Duffield, Cindy Gese, John W. Currie, Kim Harris, Bob W. Currie, Sabrina Currie and Clayton Currie and several great grandchildren.
Services have already been held.
