Obituary of Michael Wayne Soderlund

We have lost one our finest; a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Michael Wayne Soderlund passed away at 77 years old, on April 5th 2015, at HRMC. Mike is survived by his wife Toni; sister, Joanne (Chuck) Jones; sons, Kevin (Majja) Soderlund, Quinn (Sharlene) Mathews; and daughter-in-law, Sherri Wallick. He had five wonderful Grandchildren; Nikki and Emma Mathews, Bronwyn Comeau, Samuel and Jordyn Gunderson, and many nieces and nephews. Mike, a friend to all and an enemy to none, had an uncanny ability to find the one person in a crowded room that wanted to talk sports, and then walk out with a lifetime friend. A sports fanatic and a devout Seattle fan (Seahawks, Mariners and his Beloved U.W. Huskies) he was always eager to convince you why his teams were the best. Mike often boasted he had the perfect life "What else do I need? I have a beautiful wife, a big screen T.V. and a Coors light." He dearly loved his family and was relentless in his pursuit of their happiness. Mike, born in Seattle, Washington to Mack and Mary Soderlund was one of three children. He chose to join the Army in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1960 after serving in Korea. Returning home, he remained in the Seattle area until he retired to Lake Havasu in 2004 with his beautiful wife of 33 years, Toni. Here they found plenty of friends and have made great memories. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Mary; sister, Marilyn Jones; and son Shawn Gunderson. Services will be held on Wednesday April 15th at 1:00 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze funeral home, with a celebration of life immediately following at the Quality Inn.
