Obituary of Madelyn Ruth Jones

Madelyn Ruth Jones passed away suddenly on April 9, 2015 in Lake Havasu City, AZ surrounded by her family and friends. Madge was born in Assyria, MI to Victor and Bernace Jones on June 25, 1928. She graduated from Bellevue High School and during World War II, Madge drove an ambulance for the Red Cross from Percy Jones Hospital to Fort Custer to quickly transport soldiers. Madge was a real entrepreneur. She owned and operated the Traveler's Paradise Motel and Restaurant in Roscommon, MI for 15 years. Madge then moved to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in Munising, MI where she opened a craft and antique store. She was president of the Women's Auxiliary for the Wetmore Fire Department for several years, running the Smorgasbord, their largest fundraiser. Upon her retirement she moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ and traveled extensively. She was most proud of the fact she had visited all fifty states and several countries. Surviving are her friend, Betty Dillon of Lake Havasu City; her nieces, Cathy (John) Osten, Ruth Starring and Denise (Kim) Jones; her nephew, Eric Jones; her brother, Albert Jones; and her longtime Michigan friends, Maggie Bresnahan, Donna Hodges and Mildred Rueckert. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George Jones; and nephew, Paul Jones. A memorial will be held in Arizona and Michigan at a later date.
