Obituary of Floyd Vander Jagt

Floyd Vander Jagt, 88, passed away on May 29, 2015. He was born on April 11, 1927 in Spring Lake, Michigan to the late Nellie and Leonard Vander Jagt. Floyd grew up in Michigan and served in the U.S. Army during World War II at the age of 18. He later married his sweetheart, Phyllis Lulofs, in the summer of 1951. In 1970, the family made their way to a small town in the desert, Lake Havasu City, AZ. In 1971, Floyd made a name for himself and his family, partnering with Jack Kadisak, establishing the first countertop shop in the area. As Floyd taught his sons the craft of cabinet-making, Form-A-Fab became a family business, which has grown to become one of the largest woodworking operations in the tri-state area producing over $100 million in custom cabinetry, countertops and furniture. Floyd was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed developing machines and tooling for his woodworking operation. He was a proud man and thankful for the opportunity to teach his trade and work with his five sons and many grandsons to grow their thriving business. Floyd is survived by his sons, Jim (Karen) VanderJagt, John (Cheryl) VanderJagt, Paul (Karen) VanderJagt, Bill (Laurie) VanderJagt, Larry (Brandy) VanderJagt; brothers, Leonard Vander Jagt, Donald (Lorraine) Vande Jagt, Howard (Karen) Vander Jagt, Kenneth (Grace) Vander Jagt, Roger Vander Jagt; sisters, Ellen Rozema, Marian Alderink, Elizabeth Baker, Nancy Torgerson; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Vander Jagt; and parents, Leonard A. and Nellie Eversdyk Vander Jagt. A memorial service will commence at 6:30 PM on June 10th at Community Presbyterian Church, 3450 Chemehuevi Blvd., Lake Havasu City.
