Richard Devon Kempton, 41, died June 30, 2002 after a valiant six year battle with a cancerous brain tumor. He was born March 8, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rick lived most of his life in Green River, Wyoming where he worked for 18 years in the soda ash mines. Being both proud of his work and competitive, he broke his own record 3 times at OCI (formerly Stauffer) running a mine cutting machine. Rick moved to Lake Havasu City in 1998 where he could enjoy the warmer climate and continue his love for fishing. He also was a wild game hunter and a die-hard football fan. Rick is loved by a large family and many friends. Survivors are children Chanel (Ross) Busha of Greely, CO, Brooke Kempton of Rock Springs, WY., Katrena Kempton, Shane Kyle Kempton of Chillicothe, MO; stepchildren Nathan Haselhun, Kaylee Haselhuhn of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren Rhyane Hemphill, Hayden Busha, Haley Bartez, Christian Bartez, Taylor Staggs; parents Kenneth and Jan Kempton of Lake Havasu City, Elaine and Lyn Caudill of Green River, WY and Marlene and Jack Cox of Yuma, AZ; brothers Gary (Doris) Kempton of Superior, WY, Shane (Jody) Kempton of Green River, WY; sisters Marcia Bingham, Brenda Barney, Shelly (Jeb) Burnett, Tammy (Jerry) Fennell of Green River, WY. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Rick's family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Havasu for their professional expertise and loving support. Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Green River, WY. Memorials in Rick's name can be made to Hospice of Havasu 355 S. Lake Havasu Ave., LHC 86403. Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
