Charles Leo Valona, 79, passed away July 18, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. He was born February 17, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA to Leo & Guadalupe "Jaquez" Valona. Charles moved to Lake Havasu 15 years ago from Hacienda Heights, CA. He was a machinist for the L.A. Times in Los Angeles for 12 years. He was a proud US Navy veteran during WWII. Mr. Valona was a lifetime member of the following organizations; D.A.V., V.F.W. and the Elks. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League and the American Legion. He is survived by his companion Wanda Ewing of Lake Havasu; sons Joseph Valona of Costa Mesa, CA and Charles Valona and his wife Karen of Redding, CA; daughter Linda Carlson and her husband Phil of Victorville, CA; sister Carmen Herrera of Lakewood, CA; grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Andrew, Daniel, Amanda E. & Joseph F. and six nieces. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2002 from 6 to 8 pm at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2002 at 10:00 AM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Burial to follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. Following services you are invited to join us in a celebration of her life at the Elks Lodge. Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
