Bette Gerard-Pate passed away October 14, 2004 in Lake Havasu City due to complications following surgery. She had been a resident of Lake Havasu City for the past 13 years. Born in Yarnaby, OK in 1933, she had resided in California since the early '40's, and retired to Arizona with her late husband, Bill Gerard in 1991. She was widowed in 1996, and thanks to God's grace, she met a wonderful man through her church; they were married on October 9, 1999.Bette was a lover of life - so many interests! She loved nature; was an avid bird watcher, hiker, bicyclist, kayaker, and she loved to fish. She enjoyed working in her yard; was a talented ceramist and woodworker; she was a history buff and loved to read. She had a global circle of friends which she gathered on her many travel adventures. She loved animals and was a supporter of the SPCA. She was a devoted and ardent student of the Bible and active in the services and functions of the church.Bette is survived by her loving husband, Robert L. Pate; her brother, Duane and wife Natalie; her sisters, Shari Ells and husband Bob and Sandra Boudreau; brother Steve Hawkins; her grandchildren, Alan Gerard, Roxann Gerard, and Tina Detwiler as well as a huge extended family who will sorely miss her.Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 20, 10:00 AM also at Lietz-Fraze Chapel followed by burial at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. Family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the hurricane victims in Florida. You may do this by identifying your donation "IDES of Christian Church Florida Hurricane Victims" and mail to: Havasu Christian Church, 341 Mulberry Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
