WILLIAM M. LIETZ SR. William M. Lietz Sr. passed away peacefully on May 15, 2013, with his family by his side, in Glendale, AZ at the age of 63. Bill, as he was known to family and friends, was born on February 7, 1950 in Chicago, IL to Chester W. and Marion H. (Koelpien) Lietz. Bill is a retired Captain with the Phoenix Fire Dept. serving 33 years and 2 years with Rural Metro Fire Dept. He was also part of the Phoenix Fire dive team. He was in the 1st graduating paramedic class of '79 who were nicknamed the DIRTY DOZEN. Bill was a proud veteran of the Air National Guard of Arizona, serving as a Boomer for a KC130 Refueler. He loved gold mining and was Past President and Vice President of the Gold Prospectors Association of Phoenix. He loved participating in the Arrowhead Lake Annual Christmas Boat Parade and won multiple trophies. Bill also enjoyed scuba diving, fishing, time on the pontoon boat, History channel and CNN. His most memorable moments where times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bill is survived by his loving wife Lori Lietz of Glendale, AZ; sons Bill Lietz Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Bryan Lietz of Phoenix, AZ, Brandon Lietz of New River, AZ, Nicholas Lietz of Anthem, AZ and Michael Doran of Glendale, AZ; daughters Brittany (Shawn) Hyde of Austin TX, Brooke (Bob) Roe of Scottsdale, AZ and Erin Doran of Clive, IA; identical twin brother Walter (Donna) Lietz of Lake Havasu City, AZ; grandchildren Colton, Daniel, Andrew, Cameron, Hayden and Maybyn; numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his dog Lucy. Visitation will be held on Sunday May 19, 2013 at Messenger's Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be on Monday May 20, 2013 at Highlands Church, 9050 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ at 11:00 AM with words of comfort by Father Carl Carlozzi and Pastor Jasen Fritz. A reception to follow at the church. Private burial will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens, Lake Havasu City, AZ.
