George Washington Gambril 88, passed away on September 15, 2002 in Lake Havasu City, Az. He was born on February 22, 1914 in Payne County, OK; to William Alexander Gambril and Lillian Blanpied Gambril.He spent his youth in Kansas and attended high school in Fredonia, KS. In his early years, he was a blacksmith and went to work for O.C.S.,Mfg. Co. in Coffeyville, KS.It was during this time he met and married Christine Ruth Hare. In 1945 they adopted Christine's 8 year old niece, Patricia Ann Blandin. George and Christine were later divorced.During WWII, George went to work for Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA., as a machinist. During the last part of the war, he purchased a garage and service station. He specialized in brakes and mufflers. He ran this business for over 20 years. During this time, he bought a ranch on Redwood Road in Napa, CA., and built 2 homes among the redwoods. In 1960, George married Dorothy Arvilla Duncan. George retired and he and Dorothy moved to Weiser, ID. They later bought a 1000 acre ranch in Cambridge, ID., and built a home. They later decided to travel and sold the ranch. The moved to Lake Havasu City, Az., in 1997.George was an avid fisherman and hunter. One of his favorite pastimes was tying flies and he became quite professional at his hobby. George sold his flies all over the world. He also enjoyed hunting and took many trips into the backcountry of Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, California and Montana.George was president of "Allied Automotive Industries" of California for several years. He was also a member of the BPO Elks Club of Vallejo, and being an excellant cook, would share his culinary talents with other members of the Elks Club.George is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy of Lake Havasu City, Az. his daughter Pat and husband Arthur Niece of Clayton, ID., two granddaughters Kimberlee and husband Robert Lowther of Kuna, ID; and Karmen and her husband Nathan Horkley of Boise, ID. Five great grandchildren, Keri, Tyler, Karissa, Patrick and Payton.One brother Kenneth Gambril and wife Dorothy of Yukon, OK; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in by his parents, 3 sisters, Marie, Lucy and Aketa and 2 brothers Bill and Jess Gambril. Our tribute to a Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, whose word was based upon a simple "hand-shake".Building Charater:We are building everday, in a good or evil way.And the structure as it grows, will our inmost self discloseTil in every arch and line, all our faults and failures shine.It can build a castle grand or a wreck upon the sand.Build it well what e're you do, build it straight and strongand true.Build it clean and high and broad, build it for the eye of God.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.George
