JOHN STEVE MISKOFSKI DEC. 28, 1916 - MAY 19, 2013 John Miskofski a resident of Lake Havasu City for 16 years, passed away on May 19, 2013 at his home. He was born on Dec. 28, 1916 to Mike and Esther Miskofski in Cleveland, Ohio. He lived to be 96 years old. He was the oldest of 5 boys. John married his late wife, Mary in August 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio where they lived until moving to Southern California. Their only son, John Ashley preceded his parents in death on November 27, 1996. John and his wife, Mary, moved to Lake Havasu City in 1997 and made this their home, moving from Hemet, California. He worked for General Dynamics in Pomona, California for over 30 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the 2nd world war from 1941 to 1947. He was wounded in France and became a disabled veteran. He received a Purple Heart and a Congressional Medal of Honor while in the service. He belonged to the Elks, Masons and D.A.V. He enjoyed the outdoors - boating, fishing, swimming and hunting. He and his wife traveled for over 50 years all over the U.S. and Canada in their motorhome, taking many vacations with Mary until her passing. He also enjoyed going to Laughlin and gambling, where he won many times. When he was younger he liked roller skating and was on a roller hockey team with his brother, Michael in Cleveland, Ohio. He enjoyed working in his yard and raised fruit trees. John took pride in his beautiful garden and yard. In his later years he found love again. John is survived by his loving wife, Maria Miskofski, his sister-in-law, Marjorie Miskofski of Lake Havasu City, his niece, Joyce Richardson of Lake Havasu City, his nephews Roger Miskofski of Lake Havasu City and Raymond Miskofski of Palmdale, California. His step-daughter Veronica Dobias of Las Vegas, Nevada, his granddaughter Barbara Ortega and his great-granddaughter Isabella Ortega of Las Vegas, Nevada. On the Miskofski side of the family there are also many nieces and nephews living in Las Vegas, California and Idaho with their families. He was an uncle to 12, a great uncle to 20 and a great-great uncle to 15. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mike and Esther Miskofski and his 4 younger brothers, Michael of Lake Havasu City, William of Riverside, California, Albert of Covina, California and Elmer of Las Vegas, Nevada. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to Hospice of Havasu, Lake Havasu City, Az.
