Mae Heefner 93, passed away Wednesday, October 9th, 2002 at Deb's Elderly Care Home. She was born April 29th, 1909 in Center Point, Iowa to Charles and Janie Deitz Kratzer. Her mother passed away when Mae was one month old and she was then raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Jacob and Barbara Shaffer, who legally adopted her at age four.She married M. Vernon Heefner on February 20th, 1928 and they celebrated 53 years together. They were farmers near Toddville, Iowa for many years and then owned T & T Dept. Store in Toledo, Iowa for 15 years before they retired to Sun City, Az; in 1973. She moved to Lake Havasu City, in 1997 to be near her daughter.She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and TTT Chapters in Iowa and Sun City, Az. She was a member of United Church of Sun City, Az; and attended Hilltop Community Church in Lake Havasu City, Az.She was an avid reader and seamstress and crocheted many items and dresses for herself until her stroke in 1997. At her care homes in Lake Havasu City she was called the "Domino Queen".She enjoyed her family so much and is survived by her loving daughters, Darlene Fulmer and husband Bill of Tucson, AZ; and Phyllis Wagner of Lake Havasu City, Az; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, stepbrother Orval Shaffer of Independence, Iowa and half sister Evelyn Durow of Center Point, Iowa.Mae's family is especially grateful for the loving care and support by caregivers at Rose of Sharon and Deb's Elderly Care Home and Hospice of Havasu.A memorial service will be held in Lake Havasu City on Sunday October 13th, 2002 at the Hilltop Community Church at 2:00 PM and a niche-side memorial service and inurnment will at the Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, Az; on October 17th,2002 at 2:00 PM.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
