Vernon DeLar Peterson, 72, passed away October 21, 2002 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born June 10, 1930 in Milnor, North Dakota to Gilman and Ella "Johnson" Peterson.Mr. Peterson moved to Lake Havasu 6 years ago from Rogers, Arkansas. Vernon served in the Korean War as Special Weapons Mechanic. He is a member of the American Legion Post at Lake Havasu City, Arizona, the Moose Lodge #555 at Topeka, Kansas, the Eagles Lodge #4299 of Lake Havasu, the Elks Lodge of Lake Havasu and the Masonic Lodge #0366 in Bonner Springs, Kansas.He retired from the A. T. & Santa Fe Railway as District Material Supervisor in November 1986, after 34 years of service.He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marjorie Peterson; sons, Dale Peterson and his wife Viki of Lawrence, Kansas and John Peterson of Lake Havasu; daughter, Judy and her husband David Thornbrugh of Shawnee, Kansas; mother, Ella Peterson of Fargo, North Dakota; four brothers, Gordon and his wife Peggy of Elk Grove, California, Lyle and his wife Shirley, Jerry and his wife Julie and Duane and his wife Joanne all of Fargo, North Dakota; two sisters, Nancy Walker of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Donna Chapman and her husband Kenley of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Jake, Derek and Ashley Peterson, Andrew, Anthony and T.J. Thornbrugh, Amy Hastings and Eric Peterson and two great grandchildren, Isaiah and Anna Hastings.A memorial service will be held at the Eagles Aerie #4299, Sunday, November 3 at 2:00 PM. The family request donations be made to Hospice of Havasu in his name.Arrangements were made Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
