George William Smith Jr. "Neb", 69, was born in Huntington Park, California to Frances and George W. Smith on October 14, 1933. He passed away November 20, 2002 in the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.Neb lived a life most people only dream of. Neb was known to be a "daredevil" and always tried to live life on the edge. He had a wide variety of careers that included being a factory sponsored professional motorcycle racer, drag boat racer, water ski racer, a stunt man for the movies, truck driver, oil rig mechanic, automobile and boat mechanic and a master tile setter. Neb was a motorcycle enthusiast riding with the Galloping Gooses and the Antelope Valley Ramblers. When he was a stuntman, he rode alongside of stars such as Peter Fonda and Steve McQueen. He loved to tell stories of his many colorful adventures and he the thrill of skydiving in his earlier years.He was also a Korean War Veteran in the US Navy aboard the USS James E. Keyes.Neb was a very generous man. He valued friendship and he treated his friends like family. He will always be known for his big heart.Neb's last employer was with Havasu Custom Homes in Lake Havasu. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Elevators Constructor's Union.He is survived by his wife, Lynna ; children, Belinda Contopulos and her husband Jim, Robin Gill and her husband Patrick, Melodie Riccitellie and her husband Paul, Debbie Haupt and her husband Bryan, John Rice and Michelle, Paul Billington and his wife Julie and Greg Howard; Brothers, Charles Labrow and his wife Lynne and Tom Labrow and his wife Carol; Grandchildren, Vanessa & Nicholas Contopulos, Keith Riccitellie, James, Michael, Anna, John Haupt, Kaila Chase and Justin Billington.He is preceded in by his grandmother, Rose Lee Baker; mother, Frances Labrow; uncle, Mort Baker; mother-in-law, Pat Philley; sister-in-law, Cynthia Labrow and his best man, Michael Nauman.
